“Insidious: Chapter 2” (2013) – Review

Insidious: Chapter 2

Brilliance was defined in a simple one hour and forty-five minutes with James Wan’s highly anticipated horror sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2. This film pretty much gave Leigh Whannel and James Wan a VIP pass into the Masters of Horror lounge.

If you thought The Conjuring was great, oh, how you’ll love this little slice of fright– or should I say, BIG slice of fright! This had each one of my friends jumping and screaming in their seats (maybe a few Icees spilled). There were hardly any jump scares… just the clever brilliance of James Wan.

Insidious: Chapter 2 began right where we left off in Insidious. From there, I can’t say anything else. But, I will say that this film does explain the unexplained. It answers the unanswered. The way Leigh Whannel and James Wan unfolds the story it is just pure genius. The story is amazingly written, the scares are on point, the direction of the film was obviously great as well. Chapter 2 was just overall a fantastic horrifying ride.

…I will say — from what I saw — it looks like there could be an Insidious: Chapter 3… but, that’s just me. You watch it and tell me what you think. #DontGoAlone

2 episodes left of “Orphan Black” until season finale!

Orphan Black

Have you been watching BBC America’s new science fiction/drama series Orphan Black? I’ve been hooked since the first episode back in March. Starring Tatiana Maslany as all 6 clones: Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Katja, Beth, and Helena is an extremely talented actress. What Maslany does in this show is amazing. As you watch, you forget that all 6 clones are the same person. It is not just the makeup that tricks you, it is the emotion, the actions, and the feeling of the characters. What fun it must be on the set of such a show!

Every episode of Orphan Black is packed with suspense, action, drama, and best of all, horror. For a show like this, you can’t start watching the show at episode 5, you have to start watching on the first episode or else you will get mindraped and not know what is going on whatsoever. So, if you’ve never heard of Orphan Black at all, here’s the full-on plot:

(From BBCAmerica.com)Sarah has always lived the life of an orphan outsider. But a clone is never alone.

Sarah hopes that cleaning out a dead woman’s bank account will solve all her problems. Instead, her problems multiply – and so does she. Experience a whole new side of BBC AMERICA with the channel’s next original scripted series, “Orphan Black,” the exciting and ambitious new addition to the Supernatural Saturday programming block. “Orphan Black” features rising star Tatiana Maslany (“Cas & Dylan,” “Picture Day”) in the lead role of Sarah, an outsider and orphan whose life changes dramatically after witnessing the suicide of a woman who looks just like her. Sarah assumes her identity, her boyfriend and her bank account. But instead of solving her problems, the street smart chameleon is thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery. She makes the dizzying discovery that she and the dead woman are clones… but are they the only ones? Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy and must race to find answers about who she is and how many others there are just like her.

*EPISODE 8 SPOILERS AHEAD* On the last episode of Orphan Black, Sarah’s daughter Kira was taken for a little walk down the street with Helena, the Orphan killer. Of course, this triggered Sarah’s Spider sense on because Kira was in deep doodoo.

Helena has been stalking Kira for a while now, and finally had the chance to scoop her up, hold her hand, and talk with her. Now, everyone is thinking Helena is going to hurt the little innocent girl in some way, but nope. Kira and Helena hug, Kira admits she must get going, and as Kira is crossing the street, an SUV comes from the blue and hits Kira from the side! Kira’s small body is shown being mangled across the street like a ragdoll! I was so shocked, and I’m sure everyone else was too! No one was expecting this little innocent girl to get trucked by a car 10 times her size. I’ll be honest, I knew something bad was going to happen, but not this!

Episode 9 of Orphan Black is the climax episode of the season. This second-to-last episode until the season finale reveals the truth about everything! “Everything” includes Sarah and how she is in the mix of all the clones! Another thing about Sarah, we don’t know where she came from or how she ties in with all this.

“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” (2012) Review

HorrorCrone and I recently saw the hit vampire film, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. This blockbuster was based off of a best-selling novel by Seth Grahame-Smith. And according to my horror companion, HorrorCrone, the movie is nothing like the book! The book is wholly historically accurate (except for the vampires, obviously), while the new movie is not wholly historically accurate, but is for some parts . Although the film and novel were written by the same person, the two are quite different… But I won’t get into more information on the book… That is HorrorCrone’s job.

Anyway; the film’s CGI and stunts were amazing! The way the blood and guts splattered was disgusting yet epic at the same time! The cinematography was fabulous! The way you see all of the fights between Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) and the vampires were brilliant.  The vampires were horrifying! The way they looked and got around was extremely disturbing but in a good way. It kept you at the edge of your seat the whole movie, it was so intense. You really didn’t know what was coming for the innocent victims and Abraham.

“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” was directed and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, also produced by Tim Burton and Jim Lemley, and written by Seth Grahame-Smith. Great job to all the people who helped make this movie possible! I rate this film a 4.6/5 stars! I loved it and I hope for a sequel.

“Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” (2012) Trailer and Preview

Breaking Dawn Part 2’s plot: After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi. (IMDB)

If you don’t already know, the “Twilight Saga’s” next movie is approaching theaters in November. Yep, that’s right… “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” hits theaters November 16, 2012. This looks like it’ll be a good one! And if you haven’t yet seen the last movie or read the book, you must be really confused.

As you can tell by watching the trailer, Bella has finally been turned and had a child! It was a girl, and Bella named her Renesmee. The way she was born was quite gruesome in Breaking Dawn part 1 and it actually killed Bella… But she’s back and ready to fight!

Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the final movie in the Twilight Saga… Or is it? All the Twilight fans hope not, but according to Stephanie Meyer, it is. But who knows, they could surprise us with a little sequel… I doubt it though.

The Darkest Hour (2011) – Review

“The Darkest Hour” came out Christmas day of 2011, and HorrorCrone and I just around to seeing it on Pay-Per-View. This movie did’t get really good reviews, or didn’t do well in the box office either. But this holiday horror was an ok film. The special effects were good but they could be a little cheesy at some points of the film, the acting was decent and got better throughout the movie, and the concept was interesting.

The plot: In Moscow, five young people lead the charge against an alien race who have attacked Earth via our power supply. (IMDB)

I actually kind of enjoyed the film quite frankly… It wasn’t great, amazing, or stunningly brilliant but I enjoyed it. Of course until the end of it. The ending (which I will not give off because not everyone has seen it yet) disappointed me a little. The movie just suddenly ends, you don’t really get a good background story about how the aliens/creatures came to be. In one part they do say that the aliens were coming to Earth for a specific reason (which I will not spoil and say), but that’s not enough! I want more!

“The Darkest Hour” made a total of $21.4 million. The budget of the film cost about $30million. I actually want a sequel. People are still debating on whether or not a sequel is in the future. Is it possible they will make a sequel? I guess it is possible, then again, everything is possible.

If you have seen “The Darkest Hour”, did you enjoy it? What are your thoughts? If you haven’t, what do you expect in it? Tell me what you think on Twitter (@rhfang), Facebook, or just in the comments below.

“Chronicle” (2012) Exclusive Clip Released!

“Chronicle” is an upcoming horror/sci-fi/drama film. It centers on three high school friends who gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides (IMDB). This movie looks like it’s up for a small release judging by how much attention it’s getting, but this trailer and clip looks amazing. With some movies, the trailer looks great, but the movie sucks. But with this one, I think it’s gonna go off the charts. But who knows. It could be another failure.

Here’s an exclusive clip that was released today:

This looks like something original. This is what we need these days in the horror/sci-fi genre! “Chronicle” is another film that I am aching to see. And another good thing is that it hits theaters the Friday before my birthday, February 3rd 2012 (UK/USA). This would be an amazing birthday gift!

The film also looks like it’s one of those movies where a character is holding the camera around and is capturing all the action.

Check this movie out. Follow “Chronicle” on Twitter @chronicle2012, on YouTube (www.youtube.com/chronicle2012), and on Facebook (www.facebook.com/chronicle).

Teen Wolf Review

‘Teen Wolf’ is a horror/drama/fantasy series on MTV about a somewhat awkward teen named Scott is attacked by a werewolf and inherits the curse itself, as well as the enemies that come with it. Before I started watching the MTV series ‘Teen Wolf’, I watched the 80’s film, ‘Teen Wolf’ starring Michael J. Fox which is kind of the same thing, but a slight difference. In the 80’s version, Scott’s last name is different, and the way he became a werewolf was through his family.

Teen Wolf the 2011 series is more horrifying and dramatic, while the movie was more comedy and family friendly. But I believe the series is based off of the movie.

‘Teen Wolf’ the series is like another version of ‘True Blood’, but made for teens and is all about werewolves and not vampires. There isn’t many special affects in ‘Teen Wolf’ the series, but when there are, they are really good! In the last episode of season 1, the alpha werewolf looks amazing! He is muscular, furry, and looks like a traditional werewolf.

‘Teen Wolf’ is now one of my favorite shows! Season 1 ends with a bang! I don’t wanna spoil anything for you, though. I can’t wait for season 2!
